lyrics

I heard a story when I was just a boy, about a place that could destroy
Your thoughts your mind and your soul
My father told me it's haunted you see, from when the cowboys were fighting the Cree.
And oh, so many lives were lost that day
A battle raged a hundred years ago, but it's not fair when the gun meets the bow
They fought but they still lost their land
The ghosts of the story still linger in my mind this is a place that I have to find
But oh, my father tells me no
And so he tells me...
Things exist down there you will see
Things I can tell you that you won't believe
And if you go there you'll never come back
When you enter, the Dead Man's Flats
When I was young my mom would always say, your sense of wonder might kill you someday
But no, you know I've never learned
The rusted old train tracks that snake through the heart of the fields might be a place to start
As I descend into the flats
I make my way around a weathered old shack, as something softly taps me on the back
My heart has stopped and I can't breathe
Eye to eye I am locked in a stare, with wrinkles deep and bright white hair
The ghost of the Native chief
He parts his lips and he starts to say
My son I wish you didn't come this way
Vengeance I seek and I will have it I swear
Your life is my so say your last prayer
I hear my father...
Things exist down there you now see
Things I have told you that you now believe
You have gone and you'll never come back
Now you've entered, the Dead Man's Flats

about

This Old Ghost Town Kelowna, British Columbia

March 22, 1881. Three weary travelers make camp. They had stumbled on a treasure and as they searched through it they found some line made of steel, a few old boxes, small circular discs, and a few pieces wood. "Old Man" Billy Harrison, Daryl "Two Chins" Haugan and Dan Jones began crafting instruments. It was on this night that they became This Old Ghost Town, and their legend lives on to this day ... more
